Artist Bio

My “third-culture kid” status (born in the States, raised in Venezuela and Colombia) has influenced the art that I make.   As an immigrant of sorts to my own country, I identity with the puzzle posed by the mannequin in the window.  What is in/outside?  What is ab/normal?  What ARE those people doing and why do they think it matters?  And not incidentally, why did some lose their face if not also their head?

I began my art career after eighteen years at the Library of Congress.  My paintings have been in multiple solo and group shows which ranged from San Diego CA to Charleston SC to New York City.  My pieces received four best in show awards. I am making yet more paintings, including collages that use painted canvas, at my studio near the Bethesda Metro.
