NBC4 reporters Tom Sherwood and Mark Segraves return to Hill Center for an in-depth conversation with NBC4 news anchor Doreen Gentzler.
Doreen Gentzler anchors News4 at 6 and News4 at 11. She also serves as the station’s medical reporter, filing cutting-edge health reports for all of the station’s newscasts. For 28 years, Gentzler anchored the newscast with Jim Vance, making them one of the longest-tenured anchor teams in the country. Born in DC and educated in Arlington, Gentzler is proud of her deep roots in the Washington area. She spent several years honing her reporting and anchoring skills in Chattanooga, Charlotte, Cleveland, and finally Philadelphia at WCAU before joining NBC4 in 1989. Gentzler has won three local Emmy awards for reporting and anchoring as well as three other Emmy awards for news writing and reporting while in Cleveland.
Tom Sherwood is the chief political reporter for NBC4, focusing on the District of Columbia, a columnist for The Current Newspapers and the weekly analyst on the WAMU 88.5 FM “Politics Hour” hosted by Kojo Nnamdi. Tom has been a reporter at NBC4 for 28 years. Mark Segraves is a general assignment reporter with News4, Host of NewsPlus on DC 50 TV, and Senior Correspondent for WNEW Radio. Segraves is a DC native who lived in Ward 6 for 15 years just blocks from Hill Center. Segraves is a former writer for Voice of the Hill and The Hill Rag. He is the father of two boys who both attend DCPS schools. He’s covered District affairs for more than 15 years.
