Eastern Market Art Series & Teachings: Halloween Costume Building
Sunday, October 8, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Hill Center is pleased to host the Eastern Market Art Series & Trainings – EAST – an ongoing series that brings artists and children (between 7 and 12 years old) together to explore a different craft or medium each month.
Join us for a workshop with artist Christina Zielke who will help your son or daughter design and build a Halloween costume out of recycled materials that can be provided or brought from home!
Christina served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana from 2012-2015 as an NGO Capacity Building Volunteer working with Orphans and Vulnerable Children. Working in a resource limited setting necessitates creative solutions for crafts, games and projects. Christina led a weekly ‘Environment Club’ where kids could create masks, games, toys, beads and other objects from recycled materials and sold some crafts at community events to raise funds for extracurricular activities. She chronicled her better ‘upcycled’ craft ideas in a monthly column for other Volunteers to use in their communities and since moving back to the US two years ago still enjoys finding creative ways to reuse everyday materials.
