Eastern Market Art Series & Teachings: Mixed Media Creationz with Southeast Washington Art Group

Let’s celebrate the last EAST workshop of the season! Parents are invited to join the kids to paint with Janai Johnson and Lisa Clarke from the Southeast Washington Art Group (SWAG)! Share the EAST experience with your kids – beverages will be provided for parents.
The Eastern Market Art Series & Trainings – EAST – is an ongoing series that brings artists and children (between 7 and 12 years old) together to explore a different craft or medium each month.
Our program is in made possible by the Near Southeast Community Partners and the CSX Mitigation Fund as well as the Capitol Hill Community Foundation.
SWAG Works DC is a collective art group providing art services and education to the Southeast DC community and Metropolitan Area. SWAG Works’ (Southeast Washington Art Group) mission is to promote established local artists and bring together these artists with residents to provide art education classes, paint workshops and art events. SWAG Works offers classes from introduction to mastering drawing and painting.
Founder and Program Director Lisa G. Clarke began SWAG Works DC in October 2012, with a strong vision of providing art education to the Southeast Washington Community and beyond. A wife and mother of 3 beautiful boys, she attended Duke Ellington for Visual Art and received Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management at Catholic University of America. SWAG Works (Southeast Washington Art Group) was founded on a dream, love, and passion for art, and art education creating place youth, adults, and seniors can express themselves.
Artist Janai Johnson is a SWAG Works featured artist who provides art instruction, education, fun and creativity in support of the Eastern Market Art Series & Teachings. Janai is a remarkably talented local artist, a DC native and mother of 5 beautiful children. Janai has a rich history creating commissioned portraits, figures, textile designs, painting on fabrics and murals throughout the DC area.
