Opera Lafayette: Season Preview

Opera Lafayette is the nation’s only American period instrument opera company which performs its entire season in Washington, DC and New York City. Headquartered at Hill Center, Opera Lafayette kicks-off its 23rd season with a musical preview in Abraham Lincoln Hall. Founder and Artistic Director Ryan Brown will discuss the season, which finds Opera Lafayette returning to the newly-renovated Terrace Theater at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and features:
- An Evening of Monteverdi – One-act opera Il Combattimento di Tancredi et Clorinda and other works by Claudio Monteverdi
- Scarlatti and Geminiani – A Double Bill – American premiere of Erminia, Alessandro Scarlatti’s last major secular vocal work with Enchanted Forest Francesco Geminiani’s most famous instrumental composition, performed in its original version as a ballet pantomime.
- Visitors to Versailles – A musical journey through the reigns of Louis XIV, XV and XVI, featuring from music from Lully’s Acis et Galatée to Grétry’s Cœur de Lion.
Brown will perform on violin with tenor Patrick Kilbride, harpsichordist Andrew Appel and cellist Loretta O’Sullivan musical highlights from the upcoming season.
