This course is intended for absolute beginners with no previous knowledge of German and/or beginners with very little previous knowledge. This course covers the entire A1 level and covers the same material as our other A1.1 - A1.3 courses.
One 3-hour session per week (4 units of instruction); 27 weeks of instruction
108 instructional units per course
Classes will meet from 10/6 - 12/22/2012 (no class on 11/24) and from 1/5 - 4/27/2013 (no class on 3/30). Course participants who successfully complete the course (minimum 70% attendance required) will have the opportunity to take the Goethe-Institut's internationally-recognized certificate exam at the A1 level --Start Deutsch 1-- on 5/25/2013 at no additional charge (a $75 value).

Silvana Kalsi lives with her family on the Hill. She is a German native from the Harz mountains and holds a Master’s degree in Germanic Literature & Culture and German as a Foreign Language. For more than ten years she has taught German to students of all ages from beginners to advanced learners. Since living in DC, she has prepared diplomats for their posts in German speaking countries at the Foreign Service Institute, has taught at the German Language School in Potomac, MD, Johns Hopkins University and the Goethe-Institut.
