Jenny McKean Moore Community Reading Feat: Acclaimed Novelist Johannes Lichtman in Conversation with Writer/Professor Lisa Page

Thursday, April 13 @ 7:00 pm

Free – $10.00

In collaboration with The George Washington University and The Alan Cheuse International Writers Center.

Lisa Page, GW’s Director of Creative Writing, moderates a conversation and reading featuring novelist Johannes Lichtman.  Lichtman’s debut novel, Such Good Work, was chosen as a 5 Under 35 honoree by the National Book Foundation. His second novel, Calling Ukraine, will be published in April 2023. His work has appeared in Tin House, The Sun, Travel + Leisure, Los Angeles Review of Books, Oxford American, and elsewhere.

The New York Times has called Lichtman a “remarkable thinker,” and novelist and critic, Garth Greenwell notes,” Johannes Lichtman’s great subject is morally compromised idealism, and he brings to it an electric intelligence and an allergy to ready-made judgements.” He lives in Washington, DC, and is currently the Jenny McKean Moore Writer-in-Washington at the George Washington University.

Lisa Page is co-editor of We Wear The Mask: 15 True Stories of Passing in America (Beacon Press).  Her work has appeared in The Atlantic, LitHub Weekly, The Crisis, Virginia Quarterly Review, American Short Fiction, Playboy, the Washington Post Book World and other publications. She is assistant professor of English at the George Washington University and Director of Creative Writing. She previously served as Interim Director of Africana Studies. She is also a resident faculty member of the Yale Writers’ Workshop. She lives in Takoma Park, Maryland.
