
Adult Art Workshop – Intro to Art Journaling: Color, Composition, and Collage

Join Joan for an exciting new art workshop, perfect for skilled art students looking for a new medium to try, or for beginners!
This class will provide an introduction to the world of art journaling. Students will learn how to prepare background pages of a journal using a wide variety of art materials. Special focus will be placed on choosing colors, creating dynamic compositions, collage techniques and how to use unique supplies.
This class is an adult art class.
Joan Waites is a published children’s book author-illustrator and art teacher for children (and adults) in and around the D.C. metro area. Prior to Covid restrictions, she operated her own art teaching studio (Purple Crayon Studio) where she taught classes for children ages 5-13 for ten years. She is also a former adjunct faculty member of The Corcoran Museum’s Schools’ Aspiring Artists programs. Joan is currently teaching on a freelance basis at various locations.
This class requires at least 4 participants.
