Chinese Lunar New Year Feast with Janet Cam
Sunday, January 15, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm$85.00 – $100.00
Join Janet Cam to ring in the Year of the Rabbit 4721!
Janet Cam is a Culinary Strategist and wine expert, best known as the co-founder/proprietor of the first nouvelle cuisine restaurant in America: Washington, DC’s LePavillon, which was honored with Wine Spectator’s Grand Award for their wine list. Cam’s clients have included the Q restaurant group (Q by Peter Chang, Mama Chang, and Nihao – named Esquire magazine’s best new restaurant 2020), The Cosmos Club, and Vino Volo wine bars at the airports.
In addition, to serving as a James Beard Foundation Award judge, Cam conducted 48 wine and food pairings delivered during the COVID-19 lockdown. Most recently, she paired wines for the dinner prepared by Chef Peter Chang for the Smithsonian’s Julia Child Award gala honoring legendary cookbook author food historian, filmmaker and activist Grace Young.
Janet has chosen dishes she learned from her grandmother and mother — dishes prepared for her family’s festive meal. The Cantonese dishes will be accompanied by a wine tasting, exploring how the flavor profiles dance together. The exquisite menu features:
- Po Po Poached Chicken with Two Sauces
- Braised Shitake Mushrooms
- Shanghainese Baby Bok Choy with Ginger
- Wok Fried Shrimp with Scallions and Salt
- Long Life Noodles with Fermented Black Bean and Garlic Sauce
Paired Wines include:
- Salasar Sparkling Crémant de Limoux Brut Rosé
- Steininger Grüner Veltliner – comparative tasting
- Steindorfer Aptelon Rouge (Zweigelt/Blaufränkisch/St. Laurent)
Tickets may be purchased as a food and wine pairing, or just for food.
