Cooking for One is back in January and March with Chef Susan Barocas! Canned fish sometimes gets a bad rap, but it really is a perfect pantry staple – inexpensive, full of protein and versatile. Explore tasty possibilities with canned tuna and salmon in this demo and hands-on class. We’ll marinate ordinary canned tuna so that it tastes more like the expensive Italian product and make salmon “muffins” among other dishes. Some we’ll eat for lunch together and some you can take home for other meals, so bring a container or two.
Complimentary wine and beer available.
Chef, writer and cooking instructor Susan Barocas is passionate about reduced-waste cooking and healthy eating, even when cooking for one. She is co-founder/co-director of Savor: A Sephardic Music & Food Experience and has taught cooking across North America and internationally. Susan was honored to serve as the guest chef for three of President Obama’s White House Seders. She is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and the international Association of Culinary Professionals.
You can find Susan’s recipes for Jeweled Rice and Persian Spiced Fish in A Taste of Hill Center: Recipes from our Community Table.
You can purchase tickets for Susan’s January 15th class, Greening Winter here.
