To kick things off right in 2024, we are thrilled to have Sarah Jamison join us again for a vision board session using collage art. Sarah will use inspiration from cut-out art to walk the kids through how to set intentions for the year and express themselves through a visual medium. We will use our imaginations and a little help from stickers, magazines, and other print art to charge into 2024!
Bio:
Sarah’s artwork explores the notion of authentic experience; contention between subjectivity and objectivity, authenticity, and the spectral definition of apocalypse. Through highly aesthetic, candied jewel-like drawings, Sarah uses multi-layered imagery to push beyond the surface of meaning to ask whether we can culturally have an objective experience; how do you identify meaning contemporaneously in a society of hyperconnectivity and constant change? These existential questions can apply to the mundane or grandiose; small accidents or civilizations, individual heartbreak or extinction; all are subject to examination in this body of work.
Using colored pencil, marker, gouache, ink, and paint pens, Sarah creates drawings that are brimming with exuberant color and movement while equally sterile and contained. She uses conventional fine arts materials as a homage to art historical tradition but endeavors to unify the media to create seamless pieces that defy the appearance of any specific medium.
