Visual Poetry is the hybridization of visual art and language for poetic expression. Promoting skills in composition, drawing, collage, and creative language use, Visual Poetry is a fun and low-stakes way to explore our more adventurous and ineffable cognitive connections. Aspiring poets, writers, or all-around creative thinkers won’t want to miss this!
About Briget: Briget Heidmous [1989] is an artist, creative entrepreneur, and narrative specialist in Washington, DC. With a BA in Studio Art from Hastings College, she has participated in visiting artist programs at Tyler School of Art and Burren College of Art, Ireland. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and through ad-hoc performances in Ireland, Philadelphia, France, and throughout her home state, Colorado. She is a social enterprise strategist and community cultivator for Femme Fatale DC and co-founder of ARTARIANICA, a visual poetry collaboration. ARTARIANICA is a collaboration with Jessy Randall. As a creative entrepreneur, Heidmous organizes experience-centric guerrilla events that leverage the power of collaboration between creatives and entrepreneurs to transform space to place. Heidmous is known for taking concept-driven proposals and developing them to achieve high-level collaborative outcomes.
The Eastern Market Art Series & Teachings – EAST – is an ongoing series that brings artists and children (between 6 and 10 years old) together to explore a different craft or medium each month. Each workshop has volunteer opportunities for youth & teens (11 years old and up) to help support the workshop. Please contact hillcentereast@gmail.com for more information.
Our program is made possible by the Near Southeast Community Partners and the CSX Mitigation Fund.
