Sunday, January 6 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

EAST logo
Marelle Myers joins EAST to teach Realism with still life food subjects! Students will arrange still life subjects to paint based on their own interpretation, with a focus on mixing the secondary colors from primary ones. We recommend students bring in their own fruits and vegetables from home as inspiration.

Marelle Myers is an oil painter from Fairfax, Virginia. Since 2017, she has been working in DC Arts Studios in Takoma. She is a lifelong learner of traditional techniques and creates realistic work alongside a more colorful and abstract style. Myers has taken a variety of art courses from The Art League in Alexandria, as well as the University of Virginia, where she graduated with a degree in Secondary English Education. She can be found on Instagram.

The Eastern Market Art Series & Trainings – EAST – is an ongoing series that brings artists and children (between 6 and 10 years old) together to explore a different craft or medium each month. Each workshop has volunteer opportunities for youth & teens (11 years old and up) to help support the workshop. Please contact hillcentereast@gmail.com for more information.

Our program is in made possible by the Near Southeast Community Partners and the CSX Mitigation Fund as well as the Capitol Hill Community Foundation.
