NEW SERIES PREMIERE 🎉: HOUSE CONCERTS AT HILL CENTER (HC@HC)

Gabrielle Zwi is a 22 year-old singer-songwriter and Bossa Nova/Jazz performer based in Rockville, Maryland. Gabrielle’s songs about friendship, breaking barriers, and identity bring the listener through their life’s journey. With their signature ukulele and their band alongside them, Gabrielle compliments their thoughtful lyrics with energetic and captivating music. They are a Brazilian-American dual-citizen and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and they have Autism Spectrum Disorder along with other disabilities that have played an integral role in their creative work.

Gabrielle released their debut album, “Without a Label” in 2018, and a single titled “Deepest Roots” in 2019, as well as being a featured artist on several other musician’s projects. Among other songwriting awards, Gabrielle most recently won the Silver Award in the Freedom Category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, for “We Rise,” which was a collaboration with other young songwriters committed to combating climate change. In early 2018, Gabrielle founded DC Teens Action, a 501c3 fiscally sponsored organization which helps make activism accessible to students with disabilities, financial need, and other barriers to access. They were appointed to the Human Rights Commission of the City of Rockville at 18 years old, and to the Montgomery County Committee Against Hate/Violence at 21 years old.

Their new song, “Guns to a Playground Fight” was released on December 9th. Inspired by the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, and to be released just before the 10th Anniversary of the landmark shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, “Guns to a Playground Fight” examines what it means to grow up as a member of the “school shooting generation.” Past performance highlights include: Union Stage, Takoma Park Folk Festival, Sofar Sounds Sorocaba, Songbyrd Music House, and The 9:30 Club.

House Concerts at Hill Center (HC@HC) is a new series premiering in 2023 that features diverse and local DMV singer-songwriters. HC@HC aims to create a cozy, mellow, intimate setting that connects the community with new music and shines light on the wide range of talent that fills our eclectic city. Come into our house for good vibes, excellent tunes, and a drink or cup of tea.
