
Local Makers Workshop: Japanese ‘Ikebana’ Flower Arranging (NOW CANCELLED)

Join Hill Center & Keith Stanley for our series focused on local businesses and makers!
In this class you will create an Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) inspired design. Floral designer and Ikebana teacher Keith Stanley will lead a workshop to create a basic Ikebana arrangement. Ikebana is a form of Japanese Flower arranging. In this class, the focus will be on line and space within a minimalistic design. At the end, each participant will have a lovely Ikebana arrangement to take home.
All materials will be provided plus complimentary beer & wine!
Keith Stanley is a Washington, DC floral designer and educator. He’s also a resident of Capitol Hill. For 39 years he has worked in retail and special event floristry, and also doing demonstrations and workshops. Currently he is a Teaching Coach for the European Master Certification program (a floral design school in based in Bruges, Belgium), which he graduated from in 2016. He earned the International Master Florist accreditation from Gregor Lersch at Boerma Institute In March 2022. In addition he is a certified teacher for the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Structural botanical design is his passion, and recently has created large scale works for the 2022 Floralien in Ghent, Belgium and Hoogstraten Groeten and Blomen in Hoogstraten, Belgium.
This class requires at least 6 participants.
