Master Chef: Cambodian Cooking with Celebrated Chef Erik Bruner-Yang

$125.00Influential D.C. chef and restaurateur Erik Bruner-Yang returns to Hill Center to lead a Cambodian inspired class celebrating Khmer New Year which is observed April 14-16. In Khmer, it is called ‘ChaulChnam Thmey’ which means “enter the new year.” Erik is a multi James Beard Foundation award nominee and the chef-owner of Cambodian/Taiwanese influenced Maketto. Erik recently opened a cocktail bar on the H street corridor called Providencia.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Erik started a non-profit organization called the Power of 10 Initiative. Over the past few years this new initiative has provided over $1.2 million dollars in grants to restaurants all across the United States, and has provided well over 500,000 meals to communities in need.
Over the past 11 years, Erik has taught numerous Hill Center cooking classes and contributed several recipes to our cookbook, A Taste of Hill Center, including Sawmlaw M’choo Kroueng (Traditional Cambodian Soup), and Lime-Marinated Fish Salad.
