Join Hill Center for a short-film screening of a stellar blues performance from the DC blues festival

 “Masters of the Blues
 
by DC documentary filmmaker David Minckler
 
Featuring music from the 2022 DC Blues Festival by Vince Johnson (Memphis) and Mark “Muleman” Massey (Senatobia, Mississippi), who pay homage to legendary blues musicians who inspired them.

About the artist: 
Bluesman Mark “Muleman” Massey from Senatobia, Mississippi. He raises mules, sings, and writes music and performs at clubs and blues festivals in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Washington, DC, and around the country. This film is keyed to a book, North Mississippi Homeplace, that was published by the Library of Congress in 2019.

About the Filmmaker:
David Minckler has worked on a wide range of documentaries examining American culture, from steeplechase racing, Appalachia, and Southern literature, to the Obama and Trump inaugurations and the Women’s March.
