Redefining Success with Kadampa Meditation Center
Monday, April 16, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Each week, our class includes 20 minutes of guided relaxation meditation, a brief teaching, time for discussion, and a concluding meditation. The teaching portion includes practical, actionable wisdom from the Buddhist tradition that we can use to improve the quality of our daily life. These teachings are suitable for everyone, not just people who consider themselves Buddhists.
Success can be defined in many ways, depending on what we and others feel is meaningful and important to accomplish in this life. We may be striving to accomplish career goals, accumulate wealth, or achieve some measure of status or reputation. Is this our own choice, or are we feeling pressured to conform to our family’s or society’s definition of success? Can we get ahead in a competitive world without harming others or doing things that might not feel right? In these classes, we’ll explore these questions and learn how to gradually fulfill our wishes without harming others, so that we come to feel genuinely successful in our life.
Every class is offered on a drop-in basis; you do not need to attend each class in a series. We ask for a contribution of $12, or $6 if you consider yourself a senior, student, or unemployed.
