$125.00The Lantern Festival, celebrated exactly a fortnight after the Chinese New Year, is a lesser known but very popular holiday across China. It’s a time for more fireworks, revelry, and a family-style meal ending with an unusual signature dessert of tangyuan — sweet rice dumplings. Jen Lin-Liu will teach a class that features traditional Chinese New Year dishes like steamed fish, dumplings, and lion’s head meatballs, along with tangyuan — all easy to make homestyle dishes that will transport you to China.
Jen Lin-Liu was born in Chicago and grew up in Southern California. She is the author of Serve the People: A Stir-Fried Journey Through China,On the Noodle Road: From Beijing to Rome with Love and Pasta, and the forthcoming The Formidable Mrs.Chao. She founded acclaimed Beijing cooking school Black Sesame Kitchen and is currently the eventsdirector at Chang Chang, a Chinese restaurant by Peter Chang in Dupont Circle.
