Overbeck Lecture: A Bridge Across History Documentary Film Premiere & Discussion

The Overbeck Lecture series will present the Capitol Hill premiere of the 40-minute documentary film, A Bridge Across History, on Monday December 6, 2021 at 7:30 pm at Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Producers John R. Wennersten and Barry Harrelson will be present to introduce the film and answer questions.
A Bridge Across History explores the cultural and historical development of Capitol Hill and the Anacostia waterfront from 1790 to the present covering the Washington Navy Yard, the Civil War, racial progress and regression, and the problems of development and gentrification in the modern era.
The film is a project of Sustainable Waterfronts, a non-profit organization that seeks to preserve the history of Washington’s waterfront from the founding of the city to today. The film is part of a Sustainable Waterfronts documentary series that includes On the Waterfront With Arthur Cotton Moore which was recently featured at the D.C. Environmental Film festival.
Admission is free, but a reservation is required due to limited seating. We suggest that all guests arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the event. Seating will begin at 7:00 for those who hold reservations. Available seats will be released to guests on the wait list beginning at 7:15.
