Senior Fraud Prevention Roundtable: Safeguarding Our Elders

Elder fraud is a growing national trend as the baby boomer population ages and the greatest wealth transfer in history begins, including the transfer of real estate assets.  Whether you are a baby boomer or a real estate professional, learn how to spot the patters and signs of fraudulent actively to protect yourself and your clients.

The is engaging presentation, presented by Hill Center Private Events and sponsored by Woodland Estate & Title and Coldwell Banker, will focus on elder fraud prevention in real estate transactions.

 

Curtis L. Zeager, of Woodland Estate and Title will share insights on protecting real estate assets and preventing title fraud.

Hannah Gleason, of Montgomery County State Attorney Office will discuss trends and leagal protections available to seniors.

The discussion will be moderated by Samuel Pastore from the Coldewell Banker – Capitol Hill Office.

About the Panelists

Curtis L. Zeager, Esq. founded and actively manages Woodland Estate & Title, a full-service settlement agency in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virigina.  Curtis enjoys running a team focused on customer service, the interesting people that come through the door, and the variety of routinely closing residential, commercial and agricultural transactions in the region.  He is barred in the District of Columbia and Maryland, barred but inactive in Pennsylvania, and hopes to never take the Virginia bar.

Prior to transaction work, Curtis was a prosecutor for a decade, handling a broad range of cases from major felonies to misdemeanors, including mortgage and elder fraud.  Before all of that he lived and worked on a dairy farm.

Hannah Gleason earned her J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law. While in law school, she was a member of the Tournament of Champions Trial Team, the National Trial Team, and the ATLA Trial Team. She is a recipient of the American College of Trial Lawyers Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Medal for Excellence in Advocacy. She has previously served as an assistant coach and advisor to the Syracuse University College of Law trial teams.

Ms. Gleason was admitted to both the New York bar and the Maryland Bar in 2002. For the past 19 years, she has been employed by the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney. In this capacity she has been a member of the District Court, Juvenile, Special Victims and Special Prosecution teams. Ms. Gleason was a founding member of the Crimes Against Seniors and Vulnerable Adults initiative and is an active member of the Montgomery County Elder/Vulnerable Adult Abuse Task Force. She has prosecuted cases including financial exploitation, domestic violence, neglect, and physical and sexual abuse involving vulnerable victims. She has dedicated her career to trial advocacy and seeking justice for vulnerable victims.
