During this 8-week course, students will learn to communicate more effectively in Spanish through a focus on enhanced listening, comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills.  The class will be conducted in Spanish in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that will emphasize positive interaction with the teacher and other students, providing a variety of contexts for expanding grammar and vocabulary. The students will be able to see the progress very soon and enjoy the interaction in an intimate class setting of 4 to 12 students.

All the materials and exercises will be distributed by the teacher.

About the Instructor:

Ana Levenson is a Teaching Professor of Spanish at Georgetown University, where she has been a professor since 1999. She studied for a PhD at the University of Southern California with a focus on Spanish Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition.

She is also the author of Gramática española para estudiantes de inglés, a book that helps Spanish speakers learn English grammar, which is used in a number of universities and language programs across the country.

Ana was born in Santa Fe, Argentina and moved to the United States in 1987. She has lived on Capitol Hill since 1999 with her husband and daughter who is fully bilingual.

This is an 8-week course.  To provide some flexibility, Hill Center offers the option to purchase 4 sessions for $169. This way, you can attend 4 classes over the course of 8 weeks; however, you are responsible for keeping current with the workload. A minimum of 4 students will be required for this class to occur. Students will be informed if the minimum is not met.
