DESCRIPTION:In-person Register HereJoin us in the kitchen for a Paella workshop! The most traditional paella was based on the rice fields in the Ebro delta valley near Valencia and what the farmers and irrigation workers found – using snails/escargot & rabbit\, and local gardens\, not seafood – but then it was adopted to wider tastes & pocketbooks. We’ll be making a summer version with chicken\, shrimp and sausage. \nThis dish makes the perfect feast because you don’t have to sweat over the details! Join Mark Haskell in learning the fun of this one-pot dish that allows you to toss in the ingredients and let them simmer in harmony while you watch and sip your favorite drink. \nShut your laptop for a long Friday lunch and add another favorite to your go-to cooking list. Eat\, drink and be merry! \nComplimentary beer and wine are included in the price of the course! \nChef Mark Haskell’s career has taken him to kitchens in Europe\, Asia\, South America and the US. A native of the South Carolina Lowcountry\, he has an affection for Southern cooking and gardening\, and he applies his international flair to these traditions. He was knighted a Chevalier to the Confrérie de Vin de Saint Vincent for his work promoting organic and biodynamic food in the Côtes du Rhône region of France. \nTickets are non–refundable. Chef Wendi James channels exactly that spirit in an evening of French summer cooking that’s as relaxed and convivial as the season itself. \n\nMenu: \n\nFig & Olive Tartine\nSeared Tuna with Orange Beurre Blanc\nRatatouille & Chevre Gratin\nVanilla Panna Cotta with Macerated Strawberries & Basil Syrup\n\nPlease let us know in advance of any dietary restrictions.\n\nNOTE: One ticket is for two people\nAbout Wendi: Wendi James received a Cuisine and Pastry Diplome from Le Cordon Bleu\nin Paris in 1997 and has completed advanced courses in chocolate and sugar from The French Pastry in Chicago.​ Since 1997\, her work experience includes stints at Restaurant Gerard Besson (Paris)\, Restaurant Daniel (New York)\, The Inn at Little Washington (Virginia)\, and Charlie Trotter’s (Chicago). \nWendi also holds a BA in Hospitality Management from the University of Illinois. You can find this talented Chicago native offering culinary instruction and planning events at various venues in the DC metropolitan area. Wendi travels to Paris yearly to continue to explore the city she loves and all the delicious delicacies that Paris offers.
