The program will focus on building foundational vocal techniques\, such as proper breathing\, diction\, and tone production\, while exploring a repertoire of age-appropriate music. DESCRIPTION:In-person Register Here\n\n\n\nAlice was raised by a family of professional singers and began taking Suzuki piano lessons at age 4. In school\, she joined concert bands playing the French horn and often landed leading roles in musical theater productions at school and in community theaters. Alice studied music at the University of Maryland\, College Park where she served in leadership positions in music honor society Tau Beta Sigma and the Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band. Now\, Alice performs and teaches as a professional vocalist\, piano\, trumpet\, and French horn player.\n\n\n\n\n\nAlice wrote original music for\, performed with\, and produced and edited music videos for funk Wammie nominee Strangers That Clique. She currently sings and plays trumpet and keys with award winning musician and climate activist\, Joshua Long\, and she collaborates and performs with Sly on the Bright Side and Dream City Brass. Alice fronts her new band\, The Melting Virgos\, in which she performs her original songs about climate justice and class solidarity.\n\nAlice’s love of music and focus on fun keeps students coming back\, excited to develop their skills. A program for both those just starting and those with experience. You will learn how to use easily available online animation tools\, how to animate images and produce a small final film. \nEquipment: Provided\, but if you own a laptop or tablet / pencils and paper for drawing\, do bring! \nRequirements: NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – WE WILL WORK WITH YOU AT YOUR LEVEL. DESCRIPTION:In-person Register HereMotherhood is a journey\, and bringing home a new baby can be a big adjustment for the whole family. PACE (Parenting and Childhood Education) provides group-based educational and emotional support for first-time moms and second(or third!)-time moms in the DC metro area. Groups are closed and led by trained facilitators\, covering a wide range of discussion topics including: eating\, sleeping\, soothing\, attachment\, changing relationships\, setting limits\, and shifts in one’s identity during the transition to motherhood. Groups run continually based on need and leader availability. Young artists will explore sculpture and texture by creating wall-mounted artworks inspired by winter landscapes\, snow-covered forms\, and imaginative icy environments. \nUsing clay and plaster\, participants will experiment with carving\, layering\, and molding techniques to build dimensional wall sculptures. This workshop encourages creative thinking\, sensory exploration\, and an introduction to sculptural design concepts in a fun\, supportive setting. \nParticipants will: \n\nLearn basic sculpting techniques using clay and plaster\nExplore texture\, form\, and relief sculpture\nCreate a winter-inspired wall sculpture to take home\nBuild confidence working with new materials and tools\n\nAll materials will be provided. From an early age\, she felt a strong connection to the arts and was inspired by her father\, Jerome Jones\, a talented painter. She began her professional career as a pastry chef and earned a degree in business\, continuously weaving those experiences into her artistic practice. Drawing from her culinary background\, she develops unconventional methods and enjoys pushing creative boundaries. Her work is driven by exploration and material experimentation\, with texture and culture influenced by world travel and nature. Sarah is a full-time artist who also leads painting and sculpting workshops and supports organizations creating positive change.
