DESCRIPTION:from  May 6 to June 24  @  6:00 pm - 8:00 pmRegister Here\n\n\n\nAlice was raised by a family of professional singers and began taking Suzuki piano lessons at age 4. In school\, she joined concert bands playing the French horn and often landed leading roles in musical theater productions at school and in community theaters. Alice studied music at the University of Maryland\, College Park where she served in leadership positions in music honor society Tau Beta Sigma and the Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band. Now\, Alice performs and teaches as a professional vocalist\, piano\, trumpet\, and French horn player.\n\n\n\n\n\nAlice wrote original music for\, performed with\, and produced and edited music videos for funk Wammie nominee Strangers That Clique. She currently sings and plays trumpet and keys with award winning musician and climate activist\, Joshua Long\, and she collaborates and performs with Sly on the Bright Side and Dream City Brass. Alice fronts her new band\, The Melting Virgos\, in which she performs her original songs about climate justice and class solidarity.\n\nAlice’s love of music and focus on fun keeps students coming back\, excited to develop their skills. SUMMARY:Spanish Language Course: Advanced Beginners Class
DESCRIPTION:from  May 6 to June 24  @  6:00 pm - 8:00 pmRegister HereHill Center has partnered with Go Spanish Now to provide this Spanish course. \n \nThe purpose of this course is not simply to teach you about Spanish\, but rather to develop your language skills so that you can communicate successfully in the language. For that reason\, the course includes a variety of components designed to allow you to practice and improve your abilities in reading\, writing\, speaking\, and understanding spoken Spanish. This course exposes learners to a variety of cultural aspects in the Spanish-speaking world and in the Cultural Readings that are found in the workbook. \nOur goal is to give you the confidence you need to progress smoothly. With us you will learn how to maintain a basic conversation in Spanish for beginners. You will learn basic elements of Spanish grammar\, understand and use everyday expressions in Spanish\, and more. \nThe students will be able to see the progress very soon and enjoy the interaction in an intimate class setting of 4 to 12 students. \nFor this class\, please purchase a copy of Spanish Now Level 1 (9th edition) Barron’s editorial. Students are responsible for obtaining the book on their own and are encouraged to purchase it from the retailer that works best for them (Amazon\, local bookstores\, etc.). Please also come prepared with a notebook\, as it will be used regularly during class. \nThis is an 8-week course. In order to offer flexibility\, Hill Center offers the option to purchase 4 sessions for $199. Registration for this class will open 15 days after the 8-week course starts. A minimum of 4 students required for this class to occur. SUMMARY:Basic Drawing Techniques: Drawing From an Image with Christine Vineyard
DESCRIPTION:from  May 6 to June 24  @  6:00 pm - 8:00 pmRegister HereThis course is designed for adults who wish to start drawing\, but aren’t sure where to begin! We will be working on basic drawing skills and techniques over the course of four classes. Our first class will serve as an introduction – trying out techniques and becoming familiar with materials. In the second class\, students will begin a drawing based on an image of their choice with guidance along the way\, as they put what we have learned to use. The following classes will be used as a way to complete details of our drawing\, add finishing touches and a short critique of everyone’s work! We hope you will join us to learn something new and maybe meet some friends along the way! \nPlease bring a hard copy image to draw from. It should be 4″x 6″ or larger (ex. preferably an image of a person where they are the focus of the image). All other materials are provided. \nThis Series will contain 3 adult art classes. Classes will take place on April 7th\, 21st and 28th.  \n \n“This class was so helpful! Christine was a great teacher and conveyed a lot of useful information and everyone in the class had fun!” -Mary Ann\n“I loved this class–I wish it continued through the Summer!” -Caitlin\n  \n \nChristine Vineyard is a local DC artist and art teacher\, working with all mediums and a concentration in photography\, drawing and painting. She has her BFA in Art Education and a Masters of Art Education with a focus on curriculum writing.
