SUMMARY:Mr. Mike's Music - Mixed Ages Classes (0-5 Years) 2026
DESCRIPTION:from May 4 to June 29 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (except May 25)Register HereEach week in Music Together® Mixed-Age Classes your babies\, toddlers\, preschoolers\, and the grownups who love them® gather for 45 minutes of fun-filled family music time. Your teacher will lead you and the other families in music activities ranging from lullabies to full-on jam sessions (with child-friendly instruments\, of course). It’s so much fun you won’t realize how much learning is taking place! \nYou’ll take home the award-winning music used in class\, along with an illustrated songbook and other resources. As you discover new ways to play with music all week long\, you’ll support your child’s music learning and overall development—even if you don’t think of yourself as a great singer or dancer. \nWhy Mixed Ages? \nChild development researchers discovered that grouping children of different ages in one class encourages natural\, family-style learning\, so Music Together developed the Mixed-Age Music Class. In this group music class in Washington\, DC\, everyone participates at their own levels: babies vocalize\, listen\, and observe; toddlers play and experiment; and preschoolers build confidence as they emerge as classroom leaders. Grownups are happy because everyone can come to class together. \n“My husband teases me because whenever I mention Music Together to anyone\, he always pipes up my next line which is ‘best money we ever spent.’ I truly mean it. Kudos to Ken and Lili for a program that outshines any other I have seen around.” —Kim\, Princeton\, NJ \nhttps://mistermikesmusic.com/classes.aspx?sem=51790#tabs \n \nmr

SUMMARY:Andalusian & North African Jazz Featuring Internationally Acclaimed Drummer Yogev Shetrit
DESCRIPTION:from May 4 to June 29 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (except May 25)Register Here“Way of Tradition” Solo Performance & Masterclass \nYogev Shetrit’s solo performance presents original compositions that fuse traditional North African\, Gnawa\, and Andalusian music from his Moroccan heritage with contemporary jazz and Mediterranean influences. Through drums\, rhythm\, and live musical storytelling\, Shetrit creates an intimate and powerful musical experience that connects ancient traditions with modern improvisation. \nHis latest album\, “Way of Tradition\,” was praised by All About Jazz for “keeping its jazz roots while weaving global influences\,” and for blending Moroccan\, Central Asian\, and Mediterranean traditions into a unique and personal musical language. The review highlighted how Shetrit’s music transcends geographical and stylistic boundaries and noted that the drums function not only rhythmically but melodically\, becoming a central voice in the music. \nBefore recording\, the compositions were performed extensively in concerts and festivals worldwide\, where audiences responded warmly to the music’s fresh yet deeply rooted cultural identity\, connecting both to its originality and its traditional influences. \nYogev’s masterclass explores the rich rhythmic traditions of the Middle East\, Morocco\, and the Mediterranean\, and their influence on jazz and contemporary music. Participants learn core rhythm concepts\, how to orchestrate them on different instruments\, and how to integrate them into modern performance. \nThe masterclass is highly participatory with audiences joining through clapping\, body percussion\, call-and-response\, and group rhythm exercises\, creating an engaging and inspiring shared musical experience. \n \nYogev Shetrit is an international composer and drummer\, born in 1978. He earned his BA in Musicology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was the founder and member of the internationally acclaimed Coolooloosh band. He has performed with notable artists including Chuchito Valdez\, Tia Fuller\, Arnie Lawrence\, Paulo Morello\, and Kevin Mahogany. \nA composer at heart\, Shetrit formed the Yogev Shetrit Trio in 2016 to perform his original music. Since then\, he has performed in over 50 countries at major festivals and prestigious venues including the International Panama Jazz Festival\, The Kennedy Center (Washington\, DC)\, Casa del Jazz (Rome)\, and many others.
