This Sunday, February 6 2022, our longtime Program Partner EAST (Eastern Market Art Series and Teachings Workshop), will be hosting a Black History Month Portraits workshop with Edmond Wilson. This is Edmond’s first partnership with EAST and Hill Center. Edmond’s work focuses on famous historical figures such as Frederick Douglas, Jimi Hendrix, Tupak Shakur, and Billie Holiday to bring to life the art of portraiture and celebrate Black history. In observance of Black History Month, the kids will use these figures as inspiration to create their own portraits.

Free Programs for Furloughed Federal Employees
We’ve been lucky over the past few years to grow to know so many federal employees as friends. You’ve been vital to our success by attending programs, volunteering, donating to our Preservation Endowment, supporting our galleries or holding a birthday party or other event at Hill Center. As an arts and culture center, we know the vital importance that art and music can play in alleviating stress. So we’re offering a few programs that furloughed employees can attend for free. We hope it will help take your mind off the shutdown stress, even if just for a few minutes.
To register for free for any of the programs below, furloughed employees can email programs@hillcenterdc.org.
