Meet Isabel Coss, executive chef at Pascual on Capitol Hill and pastry chef at Lutece in Georgetown, whose sold-out master class happens on Feb. 23. The Hill Center impressed chef Isabel Coss the very first time she visited, and long before she knew she’d be teaching there. Washington City Paper named her one of its Change Makers for the 2024 People Issue and had brought the group in for a photo shoot. “I fell in love with the place,” she says. “I thought it would be the perfect spot for building a sense of community—and then I saw all the activities listed!” It echoes how the ebullient, 33-year-old Mexico City native feels about opening Pascual on Capitol Hill, which is celebrating its 1-year anniversary in February.

Please Support Hill Center’s World Class Programs
Hill Center is back! Our doors are open, and we are offering a lineup of events every bit as exciting and robust as our pre-Covid offerings. If “pandemic life” taught us anything, it’s that we need to be even more engaged with our community: Hill Center staff has designed new programming strands that include a broader range of topics and wider use of our campus, once again making the Old Naval Hospital a central hub for engagement and connection. And our signature programming—exceptional events with intimate audiences in a beautiful venue—remains the foundation of our programming schedule.

We have been thrilled with the return of the critically-acclaimed poetry series The Life of a Poet. The Global Sounds and American Roots concert series have experienced resurgent attendance. Perhaps you even packed a picnic this fall to enjoy an outdoor concert with your family. Pottery on the Hill returned in November too. If you’re a fan of The Benjamin Drummond Emancipation Day Celebration you’ll have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking new content through that series as well. And there is so much more!
These exceptional programs and expanding audiences require investments not only in ideas and people but also in infrastructure and operations. For a dozen years, we’ve enjoyed an excellent track-record of transforming your donations into captivating programming in a historic setting.

We are so excited about our future together! Please help us develop, produce and present innovative programming. We are continuing to do great things here on the Hill, and with your help we can do even more.
