Veteran – Army 2004-2009

About the Art: Uniting US artists range from crafters to professionals and also include arts activities medically prescribed (Creative Art Therapy) to personal and community-based therapeutic arts. Bethany’s Bursting Out of Silence piece was created as part of her medical therapy. Bursting Out of Silence has been selected by a national toy industry giant for conversion with worldwide sales starting in November, 2021.

About the Artist: Bethany, an Army veteran, began exploring art through medical care in support of her PTSD treatment. She began art therapy in 2017 and never thought of herself as creative or artistic. Her art is what she attributes for making the most progress in my healing journey. Bethany’s explanation of how Bursting Out of Silence was created because her trauma was just too complicated or intimidating to express with words. Art has been a safer way for me to trudge through trauma.

Artist’s Experience: “I never imagined my military service would result in the opportunity to help others in healing and connecting in a safe and healthy manner. Right after my six years in the Army, I just figured my military service chapter was done and I’d just move on in life. I am so grateful that my experience and artwork is being shared with others and I hope by sharing my artwork, others find strength, understanding, and meaningful connections.”
