Description

Artist Statement

I might be meandering down a country road, edging along a salt marsh or traipsing near ripening fields when my attention will be grabbed by the color, light, texture or rhythm of my environment. I whip out my camera to capture the enchanting elements of the scene for a future pastel painting.

Artist Biography

Martha Pope is a pastel artist living in Washington, D.C. Her paintings are interpretive landscapes that enhance the inspirational aspects of scenery. She freely adds and subtracts objects, details, light and color in her paintings to capture the essence of scenes she finds captivating.
