About Cynthia Scott – Uniting US Featured Artist

Veteran – Air Force 1979-2007

Cynthia is a military nomad both as a child and adult. She has now settled in Frederick, MD as a working artist and co-owner of 3 Roads Communications. She operated a seasonal art gallery on Cape Cod from 1996 – 2002. All that changed after 9/11 when she was mobilized to the Pentagon. Recently completing her MFA in Visual Art at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she continues a lifelong practice of creating and exhibiting her art work.

Artist Statement

I’m fascinated with perception and how people seek meaning and clarity in contemporary life. People’s visions are real to them because at a neurological level perception is a combination of belief, imagination, expectation, memory, and just a bit of visual sensory input. The new series of Bubble paintings continues my obsession with perception.

My own search for meaning, and Performance Art has included Oracle card interpretation for myself and for others. My watercolor paintings continue to evolve from figurative iconography to collage and more conceptual artistic expressions.
