The Quicksilver Productions FoundationDuende Camarón is fronted by brothers Mario and Jose Oretea, who were born and raised in Bolivia and started playing guitar at a young age.  They were heavily influenced by the musical culture of their family and grew up stepped in the rich music of their native Andes Culture.  After spending time in Spain, they became enamored with Gypsy-Flamenco music and years later began collaborating with the Gipsy Kings.

Duende Cameron’s  musical adventures have taken the brothers around the globe, from LA to Miami to Europe and all over Central America.  With their captivating original songs played alongside with traditional flamenco music, Duende Cameron has been featured at the International Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and played numerous clubs and dance halls over the last 30+ years.

The meaning of “Duende Camaron” comes from the influence of flamenco culture in which Duende is a state of mind in which the artist reaches a magical connection with Art and Passion.  “Camaron” is the nickname of Jose Monje Cruz the most influential flamenco singer of contemporary times.

Quicksilver is thrilled to bring this locally based, worldly talent with their full band to our American Roots Concert Series this spring!
