What space is available at Hill Center for private events?

We have over 4200 square feet of indoor meeting space across two floors. Our East Garden, John Franzén Terrace, and West Plaza is a beautiful accompaniment or standalone space for outdoor hosting! Also on-site, we have a fully-equipped demonstration kitchen for your next culinary adventure.

What is the capacity of Hill Center?

Our indoor space accommodates up to 150 guests for seated events or 250 for standing receptions. Our full venue (indoor and outdoor space) accommodates up to 500 guests.

Is Hill Center convenient to transportation and Washington’s national landmarks?

Super convenient! We are nine blocks from the U.S. Capitol, one block from Eastern Market Metro, and central to Reagan National Airport, The Wharf, Union Station, Nationals Park, and Navy Yard.

What is your cancellation policy?

Hosts may cancel or reschedule a date by notifying Hill Center. All cancellations must be in writing and signed by both parties.

  • No charge for cancellations with at least ninety (90) days notice in advance of the event.
  • 25% of the rental fee for cancellations with more than sixty (60) but less than ninety (90) days notice in advance of the event.
  • 50% of the rental fee for cancellations made more than thirty (30) but less than sixty (60) days in advance of the event.
  • 100% of the rental fee for cancellations made less than thirty (30) days prior to the event.

What are the hours of operation for events being held at Hill Center?

Private events are hosted from 8 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.

Are there restrictions on outside space?

The garden is available from 8 am to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday, and from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. In the case of inclement weather, there are two options: Backup space that is to be rented indoors, or tent rentals to cover outdoor event space.

What audiovisual equipment is available?

We have a state-of-the-art audiovisual system including built-in screens and projectors. A price list is available upon request.

What is your alcohol policy?

We have a liquor license and alcoholic beverages may either be purchased through us or self-supplied. There is a $300 beverage manager fee required by the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Commission when events with alcohol take place.

Is event insurance required?

We do require insurance for events with more than fifty (50) attendees or when alcohol is being served.

Is music allowed?

Yes, hire your favorite band or DJ! Noise levels cannot exceed the restrictions outlined by the D.C. government. If dancing is expected to take place, a dancefloor is required.
