My EXTRAPOLATION series draws on the concept of cognitive extrapolation, in which we make certain visual inferences and assumptions based on a limited number of data points. This work uses geometric elements and vibrant colors in an intensely active manner to give the viewer an abundance of opportunities to perceive movement and connections.

Description
In my work, which is typically vibrant, I often use geometric shape, color and the interaction of shapes and colors to express emotions and observations in an abstract manner. Although certain similar elements may appear in various paintings, I have no standard abstract translation of such emotions and observations. As a result, each painting, whether sparked on a conscious or subconscious level, presents a creative challenge of non-verbal expression. The media of my work are acrylics on canvas, the depth of which allows for painting on edges, emphasizing the perception of a third dimension in the paintings. My earlier work — wall sculptures of acrylic on wood — provides a visual foundation for my current work. Although the expression is mine, I hope the resulting abstraction allows the viewer to experience the abstraction from whatever perspective(s) the viewer may bring to a particular piece.
