I am a mixed media abstract artist. Art is the rhythm of my days – steady, insistent, and alive. It brings joy, tension, pulling me into unfamiliar terrain where surprise becomes my guide and deepens my connection to my practice and my work. My daily practice moves fluidly through art journaling, sketching, and painting. I work intuitively with acrylic with mixed media, oil and cold wax, or hot wax encaustic. I begin without a plan, shift between mark making, layering, glazing, and building texture. Every brushstroke is an invitation. Every new layer evolves into something unexpected. In this fluid process, I immerse myself, embracing the freedom and delight of making. Sometimes my paintings hold a quiet echo of places I’ve traveled to. Other times, they carry the trace of a particular moment or emotion. I welcome whatever rises to the surface. Over days, weeks or months, as the layers accumulate, a sense of recognition appears, a spark of glee, a feeling of connection, the moment I’ve been searching for. That is when the piece finally feels alive. That is what keeps me creating.
