“Painting, an act that lies between a noun and a verb, is a silent form of communication. It is an arena of dreams with the power to create alternatives to the destructive currents of public discourse. We live in a time of deep imbalance. Exploitative systems have fed distrust and brought us to the brink of destroying a sense of belonging to the interconnected relationship with Mother Nature. My paintings are visual barometers, registering what might be called evolutional entropy. They reference spiritual mythologies, the mysteries of Mother Nature and the blooming of hope. “ ———Pat Goslee Pat Goslee is a painter of emotional energetic states. When she first began exhibiting her artwork in the Washington, DC area, a critic described it as ’emotion as epistemology.’ At the time, having no formal philosophy education, this description of a painting entitled “Woman with Worries” was essentially an enigma. Over time, with exposure to critique sessions with older artist educators, discussions of ideas related to patterns and process revealed that artistic creation for Pat Goslee is a study of how she knows what she knows.
