My ongoing journey to expand my emotional intelligence ignited my desire to explore the complexities of the human experience and the vast intersections that shape our lives. We all seek the same essential needs to feel fulfilled in life: security, value, connection, variety, growth, and contribution. In my art practice, I endeavor to cultivate space where individuals can explore their authenticity by highlighting the universal needs we all seek. Embodying that notion in my art, I create analog and digital collages within a meditative additive process focusing on an uncomplicated balance of layering, texture, and detail. The meditative flow places me in a state of deep intuition where my subconscious and conscious exist harmoniously, connecting me to my most elevated intentions. Collage combines intention, investigation, and innovation, dissecting established references and reassembling them to create new captivating notions. The limitless opportunity to incorporate found objects and unconventional elements fulfill my passion for exploration and continued learning. As a child of 90s pop culture, the influence of vibrant colors with abstract patterns and shapes significantly impacts my style. The art and science of color play a vital role due to their theoretical meanings, emotional connotations, and cultural significance. Pattern as a recurring element reflects my amazement in the beauty of naturally occurring patterns. Further, with our predisposition to recognize patterns, they have a healing effect, offering us a sense of harmony. Leading my process with intention allows me to work from my highest self, without premeditation. Learning to lead with empathy and understanding paved the way live more authentically and make deeper connections. I intend my art to uplift and empower others to advocate for and honor themselves while holding space to empathize and connect with others.
