Over the last year, Hill Center has had a complete overhaul of its audiovisual equipment! Long gone are the days of wheeling in a dim projector for your conference; Hill Center now has a 10k laser projector mounted to the ceiling of Abraham Lincoln Hall, its largest room, with a floor-to-ceiling screen to match. Each of its main halls- Abraham Lincoln Hall, John Philip Sousa Hall, and Benjamin Drummond Hall- is equipped with a screen, projector, & sound system that has been used for extravagant birthday bashes, film screenings, and high-level conferences.

INAUGURAL OUTDOOR PRIDE FESTIVAL TO FEATURE DRAG PERFORMANCES, QUEER VENDORS, AND MORE
Hill Center Launches Dragathon Extrava-GAY-za
Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital today announced the launch of its outdoor “Dragathon Extrava-GAY-za,” featuring drag performances and local queer businesses, organizations, & artists.
Hennessey – event co-curator, Drag performer, and event MC – notes, “as a former employee of Hill Center and a Drag Artist, I always noticed a space missing in centering queer people. I think this venue is unique and incredible and I am so glad that the queer community gets to experience Hill Center and what it has to offer. Drag is a beautiful art form and I am so thankful to my friends at Hill Center for providing this space.”
“I’m ecstatic to be curating this event alongside Hennessey” says Hill Center Programming Manager and event co-curator Haviland Atha-Simonton. Atha-Simonton emphasizes, “now more than ever, community hubs like Hill Center must provide space for Drag performers and the queer community. We do not shy away, we only get bigger and stronger.”
Hill Center has partnered with a variety of vendors & organizations for the event, including:
- Drag Story Hour
- The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs
