Photography became my way of documenting, experiencing, honoring and sometimes better understanding people starting in high school.

For the past 18 years my creative energy focused on my portrait photography business and raising children. During downtime I have often asked friends and family if I could photograph them, which took on greater urgency in the past few years.

As I age I am more acutely aware of the confidence, beauty and self-possessed power of the women in my orbit. Photographing my book club, college friends, my mother and mother-in-law, and other creatives offered an amazing journey of conversations and connections. Some I’ve photographed many times for over 25 years, others only once more recently.

I believe at 40, 50, 60+ we are more at home in our own skin, willing to be open and yet more confident in our vulnerability.
