October 5 – December 30, 2017

The land, the light, the people.

These photographs are the fruit of an endeavor spanning forty years.

Never intended. Purposeful accident.

First, the light and the land. How the light drapes across shapes.

Add people and moments happen.

I hope I’ve learned how to hear the tiny voice that says “Now.”

It’s a no mind thing. The wonder comes later.

The thing about the Mississippi photos is that they are simple. There’s nothing complex here. They’re just about the land, and people living their lives as best they could in the circumstances they were in.

When I returned in 2013, I found myself looking mostly at the land that had been the setting for the people forty years earlier.
