Junk art club: The Climate Change Project – Climate Change Through the Eyes of a Middle Schooler

Ikea bed slats thrown out in the trash were cut and used as the canvas to paint three “eyes” reflecting how climate change looks from a student’s perspective. The three panels reflect: 1) beetle damage to pine trees in the Western US, 2) the 2019 Australian wildfires as a kangaroo watches the blazes, and 3) urban air pollution. Club member Zola Coleman painted the eyes using gouache paint.
