About the Artist

Nguyen headshotKhanh Nguyen (Kay) is a visual artist, a native of Hanoi, Vietnam who lives and works in the Washington D.C. area. Kay started drawing at the age of 4, but she did not begin to paint until the later years of high school, when she discovered her love for oil paint. Though Kay is more of a self-taught artist, she embraces the contemporary art movement, with relatable themes allowing her audience to inject their own perspectives – enjoying art should not be only looking at a work that appeals to one’s sense of beauty but also stimulates the mind. She received her BA degrees in political science and philosophy, as well as well minor in studio art, from James Madison University in May 2019.
