Flies, ranging from (size 4-0 Large) Baitfish imitation and Streamers for Muskie, to winged insects or Dry Flies (Size 14 Medium/Small), to subsurface midges and nymphal stage insects (Size 16-22 Small/Super Small) which trout enjoy feeding on.

About Matthew Hoalcraft

Retired Veteran – Army 1997-2019

Originally from West Virginia, Matt served 21 years as a Military Police Officer in the US Army. He deployed seven times post-9/11 to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Matt served multiple distinguished positions for high-ranking officials and dignitaries. He is active in Wounded Warrior events, as well as Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. He enjoys being outdoors including fishing, hunting, and hiking. Matt enjoys watching his teenage daughter play volleyball and basketball.

Artist Statement

Art helps me take my mind off of everything else in life. Making something that mimics an aquatic insect or flying bug, which in turn fools the fish, brings joy to catching a fish on something hand-tied. Showing others that even though you might not believe you can create something spectacular, others can look at my art and my insight might teach or show someone something new.
