Marsha and the Positrons is a DC-based kindie (kids + indie) band that plays fun songs about science and how the world works with positive social messages! The Washington Post calls Marsha and the Positrons “…among the Washington area’s most creative and distinctive” children’s musicians. School Library Journal says the songs are as “a unique blend of science and positive social messages encompassed within toe tapping melodies and sing-along worthy lyrics.”Marsha and the Positrons shows are playful, educational, and entertaining for kids and grown-ups! man-Wood, they play clever original songs mixing science facts with messages about kindness and friendship. They recently won the 2024 Josie Music Award for Children’s Creators/Performers! Their latest album, Energetic (2023), received rave reviews, won a 2023 NAPPA (National Parenting Products) Award and several songwriting awards. Positronic (2018), won a prestigious Parents’ Choice Foundation Gold Award, a 2019 NAPPA Award and various songwriting awards. Gravity Vacation (2012), won a number of songwriting awards and a WAMMIE Nomination for Best Children’s Music Recording. Marsha and the Positrons always bring their positive energy and playfulness to the stage. The band features Marsha on lead vocals & acoustic guitar; Ayanna Gallant on percussion & backing vocals; and David Durst on keyboards. Other players include Kurt Kratch onbass guitar and Eddie Hartness on drum kit. Guests players may include electric guitar, beatboxing, and rapping.
