Sake for Wine Lovers

Usually a wine drinker but curious about “rice wine”? Scott Movens, a certified Sake Sommelier and Educator, will guide you through 4 sakes selected to appeal to wine lovers – think the sake equivalent of a fruity white, an earthy red, champagne, and dessert wine. Throughout the tasting, we’ll talk about sake and wine’s differences and similarities, including their ingredients, production methods, tasting notes, and pairings. You’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for sake and knowledge of how to pick a sake based upon your wine preferences.

Scott Movens, the founder of Sake District, is a sake expert and educator based in Washington DC. He has multiple sake certifications, including WSET Level 3 with distinction and Certified Sake Professional. Aside from professional qualifications, he brews his own sake and takes frequent research trips to Japan to further his craft.

A minimum of 4 students are required for the class to occur. Students will be notified if the minimum is not met.
