Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) 2026 Winners and Honorable Mentions

The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) presents its annual Hill Center exhibition. The artwork represents the many different mediums of its 100 artists from the DC-metro area, including Virginia and Maryland. CHAL is a visual arts program of Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW).

The exhibitions run from May 7th through August 30th.

The Opening Reception was on May 21st, showcasing new works from amazing local artists who are members of the the Capitol Hill Arts League. It was juried by Nicky Cymrot, Director, Hill Center Galleries and Anne Barnes, Artist.

The winners for the CHAL 2026 show are:

First: Luming Niu – Leaning Tree Across the Field

Second: Karen Zens – Palazzo Soranzo

Third: Victoria Perry – Meditation on Greed

Honorable Mentions:

Judith Capen, Sock Blanket

Tyler Carroll, My Name Has Been Called

Martin de Alteriis, Shout Out

Suzie Taylor, Half Hanbok

Over the last year, Hill Center has had a complete overhaul of its audiovisual equipment! Long gone are the days of wheeling in a dim projector for your conference; Hill Center now has a 10k laser projector mounted to the ceiling of Abraham Lincoln Hall, its largest room, with a floor-to-ceiling screen to match. Each of its main halls- Abraham Lincoln Hall, John Philip Sousa Hall, and Benjamin Drummond Hall- is equipped with a screen, projector, & sound system that has been used for extravagant birthday bashes, film screenings, and high-level conferences.
